8:37 am - Saxophone Teacher
|
|
Today I'm going to get saxophone lessons from someone I found on Craig's list! I am in a rut with the saxophone and I don't feel like I'm getting any better. I think having a teacher will help me out. Wish me luck! Here's hoping I stick with it!

I think a while back Andrea told me they've gone down hill. BUT, I was so blown away the first time I saw them that I want to give them another chance. I listened to some of their stuff on myspace, but it's hard to tell. Even with their older songs, they sounded better in person (which is SO rare*).

* Tracy Chapman sounds better live too. I found that out from watching some videos of her on youtube.

2:31 pm - Advice Please!
|
Ok, I've decided that I don't like gmail. I really don't like the fact that it doesn't have folders. In addition, it doesn't upload images properly--My grandma sent me a forward where images were embedded in the text and they all showed up at the end rather than throughout the message. I forwarded the message to my hotmail account and voila! No problem showing the message properly. This is not the first time I noticed that problem, just the first time I checked it out.
And so now I'm in a jam. I'm bored of hotmail and want to try something new. Gmail just doesn't cut it. Does anyone have suggestions?

7:25 pm - Long Day
|
So, at around noon my mom asked if anyone wanted to go to a place called "Tudor Place," a historic house and garden in DC. Unfortunately by the time we got there the house was closed, but my mom really wanted to see the garden anyway. It was fun. My mom doesn't often have the let's-do-something-right-now! attitude so I was very happy to go along and look at a beautiful garden.
On the way home we hit traffic and didn't come home until dinnertime. So, we made dinner and ate it outside in the yard. We have cat birds--They get their name because while most birds are afraid of cats, these birds are not afraid to dive bomb at them if they get too close to their nests. One of them dive-bombed mom, haha. Mom was not phased.
I've been really tired lately, not sure why. I think it's probably related to staying up really late talking to Jason and then being woken up by birds at 5:30 in the morning! Tonight I have to find luggage, finish my thank-yous, and clean. Tomorrow, I need to move stuff out of my room (that room has a never-ending supply of stuff!), pack, rest, get a haircut, mail my letters, and finally meet Theresa and Janice in the afternoon for more packing. Then on Saturday I'm off!
I'll be back on June 3, and I must see Andrea before I move on June 6. Oh! And if you're free and interested I think we'll have a fourth-of-July party at my house. Probably the same old old folk though--although this time I won't be obligated to entertain everyone like on my grad party. :/ Last year it was pretty fun. Someone brought fireworks.
Silly Bonnie sees her reflection in the window and is doing the same thing that damn cardinal did for about a month. It's so much cuter when the knocking is not early in the morning!

9:27 pm - To Do List
|
o Find a place to live within walking distance of where I am going to work.
o Find Jason a birthday present. Visit him?
o Wedding present for Rob and Suzanne (if invited).
o Toy for Bonnie.
o Cancel second health insurance! (It turns out my mom's health insurance will last six months after graduation. Not sure why I just found that out.).
o Write thank-yous for graduation cards.
o Buy awesome doo-daddles at Michael's. Perhaps this could tie into Jason's present?
Am I missing something?

Last Saturday our church choir sang at church! I was so sad because it was my last performance with the group but the songs were completely wonderful so if you have a moment you should check them out:
www.csdach.org Go to Podcasts and the songs are in the sermon called "Much More Beyond."

2:42 pm - Bonnie
|
Today when I woke up I noticed that Bonnie was all puffed up and I was afraid she was getting sick. As it turns out, I just left the window a crack open last night (because it was so beautiful yesterday!). I need to be more careful about that. I wonder if my room is a terrible place for a bird to live in general? I mean, the temperature varies immensely each time the heat comes on because the room is really small compared to where the thermostat is. So the room heats up well before the thermostat turns off. :( Oh well.
Today I put off working on my take-home exam to feed her. And she got on my hand for a while and we did homework. So, I think it's going well. However, I did have to chase her around the room for a while because she got scared and wouldn't come back!!!

10:17 am - Can't Find My Phone
|
Again.
It's been missing since Monday. I thought someone would have called a number on the phone by now, but that hasn't happened so now I'm afraid that someone has actually been using it! Mondays are so jam-packed:
8:00 Personal Finance 9:00 ecoMOD (green roof project) 10:00 Hydraulics of Streams and Rivers 11:00 Lunch 12:00 Water for the World BREAK 5:00 STS 6:00 dinner with Grace
I know I had my phone when I left the apartment. I didn't notice it missing until 5:00 when I was trying to make sure the volume was off. I assumed I left it at home, but when I got home it was nowhere to be found! *sigh* I really hope I just misplaced it and nobody has been using my phone. :(
current mood: distressed

Dear RA RA RIOT, You are my favorite band in creation. You should consider coming to Charlottesville, Virginia. We have a hip and happening music scene here so maybe it wouldn't be too far-fetched? Please consider! You would probably want to go to Satellite Ballroom. (Unfortunately, Starr Hill, another great music venue closed last year. *moment of slience please*).
Thank you!
Your biggest fan, Claudia
(who is so sad she needs to go to the Black Cat in DC if I want to see you but can't make it this year because it is a 2.5hr drive and I have class until 7PM and your show is at 8PM).
RESPONSE: Aw thank you Claudia! We are currently booking a tour that should bring us if not TO Charlottesville, pretty close. If not, maybe DC?
It's always nice hearing from supportive (and enthusiastic) fans. Hope to see you on our next tour, make sure to come say "hello."
Thanks again,
Rebecca

6:47 pm - Question
|
|
What is there between beginner and conversational French? What word would I use for "a little better than a beginner, not yet intermediate?" :\ I can't find the right word! I want to change that line on my resume. It should NOT say "conversational French!"
